Doncaster Show 2004

When you’re going out on the town where a major car show is being held, there is only one way to arrive, and that’s in style, and style we had! Thanks to Beardy and his friends at Midas Styling, some of us were chauffeured into Doncaster town centre in an ambulance, slammed on 22” rims!! Complete with harnesses, a leather sofa and leather chairs, it certainly turns heads.

Once in Doncaster it was time to enjoy the local nightlife, so after a few drinks in one of the bars CUK headed to the nightclub ‘Trilogy’. The club has 3 separate rooms, each with a different style of music, and an upstairs RnB chill out room where you can look out glass windows at the intoxicated madness. After plenty of alcohol, it was time to head back to the hotels, for some to sleep, and for others to drink the night away.

Seven am Saturday morning was not a pleasant sight in the F1 car park. Pale faces summed up what everyone was thinking and feeling, death. Once the cars had warmed up & the drivers had woken up, it was time to go set up the stand. Once in the show, the cars were positioned into place, and confusion over a show pass allowed A_Reg and Messer to get their cars on show too, joined by the Merseyspeed 206 show car later in the day.

With the cars in place, washed and polished, the only task left was putting up the gazebo. Big shout out to our Chairman Mikey, who laughed in the face of failure and ensured the gazebo got erected, after having some serious trouble with his poles. Once this was done, it was time to relax, have a beer or two, and take in the show.

Much CUK comedy occurred in the afternoon, beer and sun bring out the best in people, and one of the highlights being Ribbzy involved in some serious bondage action with Messer, which did unfortunately lead to a head banging incident, and a very irate ‘Auntie Kellie’. Never get on the wrong side of a Yorkshire lass. Two unnamed individuals (G & Natty) were also seen terrorising people at the show dressed up as terrorists. Was also good to see members from further afield at the show over the weekend, like Ant and Llis, Tony, Neo from the Midlands, and the shandy drinker Marcus himself.
