Pete
Barden - Web Designer Fast Car Magazine
How did you get your job at FastCar?
I was working as a freelance contributer doing bits for Maxim
and Bizarre when I saw the FC ad in the Guardian. Next thing
I know, I'm sitting in front of Mono (ex FC editor) trying
to persuade him I know what the hell I'm talking about. It
was late on a Friday night and he wanted to get to the pub,
so they just said 'what the fuck'and gave me the job.
Have you worked at any other (car) magazines?
No - just male lifestyle.
How would someone get a job at FastCar?
The best way is to keep hassling us with feature ideas, actual
features and naked pictures of girlfriends. Being really into
the modified scene is much more important than previous experience
or being able to write perfect English. And if you can make
better tea than Silko - you've virtually got the job.
How long have you been working at FastCar?
About four years - on and off.
What is your job?
I started as feature writer, then features editor, before
leaving, coming back as deputy editor and web editor. I'm
now officially classed as www.fastcar editor and group internet
editor (whatever that means).
What have you got planned for the future?
Don't know - it just seems to happen...
