Tick tock, 7 O’clock… after some subtle leading to blatant hints, the missus finally gives in to the idea that a cruise and some booze would be more eventful than a night of Pop Idol and a visit to the local… RESULT!

By the time the theme tune to Cowell’s kids blared from the TV the BM was fully loaded with petrol, cheap but effective wine for herself and another cruising chum – ETA 9pm!

Arriving at the back of 9pm due to a pullover by the local constabulary for a blown headlight. We hooked up with insurance_risk at Aberdeen Beach, looking down from the top of the hill we could see it was already happening, on one side of the circuit was a glare of Xenon’s, neons and morettes whilst the other was all afterburners, flames and traffic lights on green…the cruise was all go! At a guess, 400 cars, half parked up and the rest cruising down the strip all night long!

Ditching the car we wandered down amongst the action and what a sight – 340 bhp MR2’s spouting flames, Vtecs and Skylines, Supra’s and Evo’s all smoking the local scooter crews from the lights, with a healthy dose of your Pug’s, Saxo’s and Corsa’s mixed in too… of course.

There was plenty of ‘PAPS OUT!’ action (at least three lassies but that’s still more than you’d get on a Saturday night out!), a strong but well behaved police presence and plenty of quality cars to strain your attention span!

The crowd was civil and cheery, making it easy to meet and greet the people behind the usernames on the various forums, the atmosphere was ‘UP FOR IT!’ and the length of time it took to do a lap of the half mile circuit (20 minutes!) provided vast amounts of photo opportunities for the huge amounts of camera wielding cruisers!
