Doncaster
Custom Car Show, sponsored by Ripspeed (cha-ching), is the
first show of the season, when we get to see close up what
all of the major tuning companies have been working on and
developing over the winter, plus have a damn good time in
the process. It nevers fails to disappoint, and this year
was was no exception.
After the madness of Thursday, making final arrangements and
ensuring we were prepared, we set off towards Doncaster Friday
lunchtime. A mishap with Mike's meshed front bumper the week
before meant we had to get our hands on some Friday daytime
and have it fitted. Luckily Ripspeed in Leeds came to our
rescue, and we were in Donny on time to meet up with Sy and
Sassy, already having Scott in his sweet Mk1 Golf Cab in tow.
It was time to take a look at where we'd have our stand for
the weekend, and we were impressed, being near the middle
of the show right where there would be a good flow of people.
Now it
was time to sample Doncaster's nightlife for the first time.
After the other lads had arrive at the hotel, we jumped into
some taxi's and headed into the town centre, already breaming
with modified motors and sexy ladies. What more could we ask
for. Once in Berlinz we met up with a few regulars from Cruiseboard,
including Dave, Katie, Sue, Hulmie, DJ Pasti to mention a
few and Crea from CruiseIt. It soon was a cruise website night
out.
After the
consumption of nearly a truck load of alcoholic beverages,
everyone was a bit worse for wear but had really enjoyed themselves,
and it was a quality night out. All that remained was to find
our hotel! Not an easy task when you have no idea where you
are. Lots of stumbling later we eventually all managed to
climb into our beds. Soon enough it was time for us to drag
ourselves up and down to the Racecourse. The weather was looking
quite good, a lot better than last year's rain anyway!
All of
the cars for our stand were soon in place. The line up was
Mike's 206, Drakey's MR2 Turbo, Scott's Mk1 Golf Cab, Alan's
Bravo and also for Saturday a Porsche 944 from Street Sounds
in Wigan which was competing in the SQ Sound Off competition.
For both days a very tidy 206 GT tagged on to the end.
