Max Power Live, the fastest loudest show in the UK. Love it or loathe it, this has now been established as one of the biggest shows in the show season, and you just can't get away from the standard of cars that the show is comprised of. From a Seicento on 18s with flake paint, a 106 with Saxo arches with flip paint on 19s, to the unveiling of Carisma's new project car, this show has it all. Oh, and quite a few ladies to look at too.

This year was the first time we were actually going to be part of the event, with a selection of sweet motors in the 'Outside Car Display' area, next to the 'Cruise Strip'. We'd been previously for just the day, but we were really looking forward to spending a whole weekend there. Three days with a bunch of nutters, mentioning no names, surrounded by some of the best modified motors in existence.

After weeks of sorting out who was going to be part of our stand, ensuring everyone was booked in the right hotel, and finding cars at the last minute, the time finally arrived for us to make our way to Birch Services to meet up with everyone at 5.30am.....yes....5.30am. We'd already been told that it would be first come first served for the spaces in the outside display, so an early start was essential. After everyone was fuelled up on a mixture of caffeine, nicotine and red bull, we set off down to the NEC.

Unfortunately due to 'unforeseen circumstances' we didn't arrive until about 8.45am, by which time the outside area was full. After quite a few expletives by a few members of our party, lol, we parked up in the overflow car area, and decided to make the most of the day and go and check out the show, leaving the stand to be sorted till the Saturday.

At the entrance to the main hall, Carisma had their own stand, unveiling their new demo car, a TVR Cerbera. All kinds of rumours had surrounded this car before its first appearance for the past year, and with apparently over £80,000 worth of kit, it didn't disappoint. On the deck, with nitrous, 20s and a mental Jap-style kit. It was in good company too, with Jet's 20" riding Astra V6 on the stand, along side Jamie Shaw's original R5 and the flip Beemer E36 turbo which was on the cover of Fast Car a few months ago.
