Playdays,
a new experience for everyone from CUK as this was the pilot
event and judging by the advertising and details, destined
to be a success.
The day begun with a meeting at Birch Services on the M62
where spirits were high despite the dodgy looking clouds lingering
overhead. We set off on our merry way, destined for Clifton
Moor Retail Park to meet our Yorkshire-bred
members.
The usual antics were displayed on the motorway (safely!)
to make the journey a little more interesting including some
arse-out action and "full-motion" photographs.
Clifton Moor
Retail Park, a quiet retreat for our more "relaxed" families
to enjoy a nice, quiet shopping spree without the banter of
youths and hooligans….. until WE arrived! Whilst looking for
beer and munchies we were tailed by numerous security guards
who didn't seem to realise that it's cheaper to shout between
the aisles to each other than use our mobiles.
Their poor attempts at pretending to check the stock on the
shelves gave us plenty of amusement. Once we were filled with
crisps, milkshake and Burger King we set off for York Dragway,
which would be our "looney-bin" for the weekend.
After taking
about 2 hours to put up the CUK tent in the pitch black, everyone
was well on their way to having an excellent time. Fireworks
were flying, people were singing and shouting, music was blasting
and the atmosphere was superb (thanks to everyone singing
along to "Gold" by Spandau Ballet at the top of their lungs,
hehehe).
