Finally at 06:30 our rep arrived and we were introduced to Des, or as G renamed him "Big Des", who would be our chauffeur, tour guide, best mate and all round sound geezer for the day. He bundled us into our ride, a Peugeot 806 Quicksilver, and we headed off to the Service Park in Felindre.

When we finally got parked up, due to Des going into the wrong car park and asking probably the most stupid attendants in the world ever part 1 for directions to the VIP car park. We had a wander down to the media park having a close look at some of the top runners cars and annoying loads of photographers by getting in their shot…RAM IT! Then we were quickly ushered into the VIP lounge and we finally got a brew, and a Danish pastry that I don't think G was too impressed with.

So after G picked up his bottom lip Des dragged us out to the 806 and we headed off to SS8, Resolfen. After an argument with some jumped up little prick in an army cadets uniform (about us not being allowed to take the van any further, even though we were authorised to do so) he finally gave in when his superior bollocked him and let us on our way. Once parked up we had one hell of a trek up what could only be described as a mountain. When we got to the viewing point we had the choice of a T-junction or the straight where they would be going "flat out". So we chose the straight.

From where we were stood we could see the cars coming down the valley opposite and then a few minutes later they would come nailing it past us and into a arse out bend, which unfortunately was partially obscured by trees. After watching nearly all the cars run Des told us that we had to make a move if we wanted to get back in time for brunch and he quickly legged it off to go fetch the car and meet us at the bottom of the foot path. We hung on for 10 or so minutes and then headed on our way. As we got to a crossing point the steward kindly told us in a strong Welsh accent "Um…leg it like…coz I think ones coming like" so we took his advice and heard the steward shout "Thanks like". Just as we got to the other side he blew his whistle and Carlos Sainz came screaming past.
